Business Registration (LLC & DBA Filing)

Setting up your Michigan LLC, filing your DBA, and getting your federal EIN, with every form filled in and checked before it goes to the state.

Overview

Registering your business the right way is the first step, and the forms are easy to get wrong. We help shop owners, drivers, contractors and small companies across Michigan set up a Michigan LLC, file a DBA (assumed name), and apply for a federal EIN.

You bring us the details. We fill in the forms with your own information, check them, file them, and explain in Bangla what the state is asking for and how long it takes.

What we help you file

  • LLC papers (Articles of Organization) for the State of Michigan
  • DBA, also called an assumed name, filed with your county or the state
  • Federal EIN, the tax ID number your business needs to open a bank account
  • Filings with LARA, the Michigan department that registers businesses
  • City of Detroit and local business permit paperwork
  • A basic operating agreement for the owners of your LLC

What we do and what we do not do

  • We prepare, check and file the forms, and we explain each step in Bangla
  • We are not attorneys or CPAs, and we do not give legal, tax or accounting advice
  • Choosing a structure for tax reasons is a question for a CPA, and we will say so
  • A partnership dispute, a contract, or anything contested needs a licensed attorney
  • State and county filing fees are set by the government and are separate from our fee
  • Our own fee depends on how many owners and filings your business needs, and we quote it at your free consultation before any work starts

Documents you may need

What to bring

  • Your photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport)
  • Two or three business name ideas, so we can check which ones are free
  • The business address and the mailing address, both in Michigan
  • A phone number and an email address for the business
  • The names of the owners and how much of the business each one owns

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an LLC and a DBA?

An LLC is a separate company, so in most cases your personal savings and home are kept apart from the business. A DBA (assumed name) is just a trading name for a person or a company that already exists, and it gives no separation. We explain both and you decide.

How long does it take to form an LLC in Michigan?

Standard state processing is usually a few business days after the Articles of Organization are filed. Michigan also offers faster processing for an extra state fee if you are in a hurry.

Do I really need an EIN?

Almost always yes. You need an EIN to open a business bank account, to hire anyone, and to file business tax returns. It is free from the IRS and we apply for it with you.

Do I need to speak English?

No. We complete the forms and explain every step in Bangla or Sylheti, and we translate any letter the state sends you.

Can you also do the taxes for my business?

Yes. We prepare and file self-employment and small business returns, so the same office that registered your business can file for it each year.

We assist with paperwork and preparation. We are not attorneys or CPAs and do not provide legal or accounting advice.
