Adult Homecare Services

Caring, in-home help for aging parents, plus guidance applying for Michigan home-care benefits, from people who speak Bangla.

Overview

Most people want their elders to stay at home, near family, with help for daily tasks like bathing, dressing, meals, and medication reminders. Through our partner, Safwat Homecare LLC, we provide caring, Bangla-speaking caregivers.

We also help you apply for Michigan benefits that can pay for in-home care when your loved one qualifies. We explain the programs in Bangla and help with the paperwork; the state decides who qualifies.

Ways to get care

In-home care with Safwat Homecare LLC

Our partner provides trained, Bangla-speaking caregivers for personal care (bathing, dressing, mobility), companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, and respite so family caregivers can rest. Available whether or not you qualify for a state benefit.

MDHHS Home Help (Medicaid personal care)

A Michigan Medicaid benefit that can pay for help with daily activities so a person can stay home instead of a nursing facility. The person must have Medicaid and need hands-on help with at least one daily activity; an MDHHS worker visits to assess. Families choose their own caregiver, who must pass a background check.

MI Choice Medicaid Waiver

For people who need nursing-home level care but want to stay in their own home. You apply through your regional waiver agent; in Detroit that is the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (313-446-4444). We help you make contact and prepare.

Frequently asked questions

Does Medicaid pay for care at home?

It can, through programs like MDHHS Home Help and the MI Choice waiver, if the person has Medicaid and is assessed as needing help with daily activities. We help you apply; MDHHS decides who qualifies.

Can a family member be paid to give the care?

Often yes. Under Home Help, families usually choose their own caregiver, who can be a relative or friend (a spouse cannot be paid), and who must pass a background check. We help with the enrollment paperwork.

Do your caregivers speak Bangla?

Yes. Through Safwat Homecare LLC we match families with caregivers who speak Bangla and understand our community, so your elder feels comfortable.

Are you a medical provider?

No. The in-home care is non-medical and is provided through our partner, Safwat Homecare LLC, and we help with the benefit paperwork. We do not give medical advice; the medical parts of any application are completed by qualified health professionals.

We assist with paperwork and preparation. We are not attorneys or CPAs and do not provide legal or accounting advice.
